ANCIENT SOUNDS OF GREECE
On the 6th of February 2003 CHROMA MUSIKA in collaboration with The Hellenic Ministry of Culture and the Music Department of Concordia University organized and produced the concert ANCIENT SOUNDS OF GREECE. Our two invited artists from Athens, Greece have devoted a significant part of their life in researching, constructing and playing Ancient Greek Instruments. The two musicians were Dr. Nikos Xanthoulis and Panagiotis Stefos. The concert was a very successful double presentation featuring a mini lecture and performance of Ancient Greek Instruments as well as a trumpet recital (Dr. Xanthoulis, trumpet – Irina Syssoeva, piano) featuring works of Modern Greek Composers. Greek-Canadian soprano Maria Diamantis and tenor Dimitris Ilias also participated in the event singing in ancient Greek.
